But no matter what you call them or what they look like, there’s one thing all dachshunds have in
common—they are bold! They are known for their determined, spirited nature, and their ability to
push fear aside and hunt badgers or take on a much larger dog. Kind of like David in the Bible.
Remember him? He was a shepherd boy—the smallest in his family—who killed a lion and a bear to protect his father’s sheep. So, when the giant, Goliath, came against their people and no one could defeat him, David volunteered and took him down with a sling (sort of like an ancient slingshot) and a couple of stones. Everyone else looked at Goliath and said, “He’s too big to kill,” but David looked at Goliath and with boldness said, “He’s too big to miss!”
That’s the kind of attitude we need to have when we face giants in our lives. Maybe you’re facing the invisible giant of fear—fear you won’t be accepted by others, or fear that you won’t have any close friends. Whatever giant you’re battling today, you don’t have to battle alone. You can have that same boldness that David had—the same boldness that dachshunds have— and you can face any giant head-on, knowing God is with you and in you! Be bold in your faith and watch those giants fall.
